U7-8 tournaments

Please see attached the format for Saturday's Mini Tournament and let me know any issues you may have.

There will be 3 pitches on the go, 2 for the u8's and 1 for the u7's with each u8 team playing 4 matches of 12 mins duration and each u7 team playing 3 matches of 14 mins duration. The u7's may change subject to Ripon getting a team together, but for now the format is set.

We haven't booked any referees for this first tournament, so I have put suggestions of who could ref each game (coaches from one of the teams due on next or do a half each) so please bring your whistles and remember it is just u7/u8 football so let them play, laugh and enjoy themselves and if refing please do the same and don't feel you can't instruct and help them through the game, this is development football!

What I would also encourage is for coaches to all set themselves up on the same side of the pitch as their opposition and get to know each other, swap contact details for friendlies, too many times last season we had coaches on opposite sides, you will at some point disagree with each other I'm sure, but laugh it off if you can as some of you may be in opposition for the next 10 years until your teams are playing u18's!!

There will be no medals or trophies this time, but once we have had a couple of these and we have a feeling for which teams are the stronger or how we can balance things better fixturewise then we will look to put an early season trophy on before Xmas to give them something to look forward to and to aim for.

Please ask your parents to park on the field, it should all be clear where to go as we are expecting a lot of cars plus our soccer tots, u6's and u9/10's will be training as normal from 9am and our u11's are playing Richmond Town at 9.30am, but it's a big field!!

For those who haven't been to us before or haven't been since the new A6055 from Leeming opened up the address is Catteriick Village Sports Field, A6136 Leeming Lane, DL10 7JY. From the A1 South leave at the Leeming Junction and follow the new A6055 sign posted Marne Barracks and Hornby for about 4 miles then turn right into Catterick Village and head straight through the village and the Sports Field is after the last houses on the right. From the Garrison side of the A1 follow the new road for Marne/Catterick off the 2nd roundabout above the A1 should be sign posted A6055 then turn left into the village half a mile down.

If you are coming from Hawes/Leyburn I suggest you come via Turnstall and follow the signs into the Catterick Village that should bring you back over the A1 and join the A6055 opposite the Marne/Catterick Turn, just don't rely on Google or Satnav as these haven't updated with the new roads yet.

See you all on Saturday around 9.10am, many thanks for getting your entries in on time.
